Where can you find the Beach Ambassadors?

Starting in June, you will see the Beach Ambassadors along the beautiful Milwaukee lakefront, from Bradford Beach all the way to the Government Pier. Look out for the bright blue Beach Ambassador shirts from 11am-4pm on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

How did the Beach Ambassador Project start?

After the COVID-19 pandemic, there was increased traffic at Milwaukee's lakefront beaches. With increasing numbers inexperienced swimmers at the beach and dangerous currents at Mckinley Beach, there were several unfortunate accidents in 2020, leading to the closure and renovation of Mckinley Beach. Combined with the lack of lifeguards, several organizations (Milwaukee Water Commons, University of Wisconsin Sea Grant, Milwaukee Riverkeepers, Milwaukee Community Sailing Center) put their heads together to develop the Beach Ambassador Project. The Beach Ambassador Project aims to give all beachgoers the information they need to keep themselves and others safe around Milwaukee's lakefront beaches amidst the national lifeguard shortage.
